Legal Counsel

About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified legal counsel under Belgian law to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience, possibly in a legal department of a multinational company or in alternative international law firms, with a strong focus on contracts, litigation, procurement, supply chain, technology. Experience in legal matters related to information technology, software, consumer laws are certainly a plus.

 

Responsibilities

The legal counsel will have to manage autonomously day by day legal advice to the management balancing business needs, problem solving, ensuring compliance with law and protecting the company:

  • Drafting and negotiating cross border contracts/transactions with suppliers handling negotiations related to purchases with a particular emphasis on components/products supply and service contracts, settlement of disputes, logistics, transports contract and possibly ICT agreements, software (b2b and b2c)
  • Providing legal opinions and advice on contract law, consumer law ensuring compliance with relevant legal frameworks in the consumer protection field both with respect to Belgian law and EU directives
  • Collaborating with the procurement and supply chain teams to address legal issues related to supplier relationships and contractual obligations

 

Qualifications

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Qualified Belgian attorney at law with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the above described fields.
  • Fluent knowledge of Dutch and English. Italian and/or French would be a plus
  • Ability to work independently, provide strategic legal advice and manage complex legal matters
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in an international corporate environment
  • Familiarity with cross border transactions, legal issues and regulations, especially in the procurements and supply chain
