Product Owner – Base Software & Software Intergration

About the role

The Base Software and SW integration Product Owner is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the Base Software from requirement specification to industrialization, ensuring compliance with customer requirement, project timelines and quality standards. Acting as the customer’s representative within the development team, the PO define and prioritizes the product backlog, aligns requirements, drive cross-functional execution, and leads technical decision-making for the sub-system.

Responsibilities

  • Understand in depth the customer requirements and translate them into clear specifications and assignments for the agile team. Align and collaborate with other team involved in SW development.
  • Align requirements, acceptance criteria, and compliance evidence directly with the customer.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for Base Software topics during customer and internal project meetings.
  • Conduct regular project reviews, issue reporting, and requirement clarification with the customer
  • Define, review and sign-off requirements & design decisions, ensuring consistency and traceability.
  • Ensure product design meets customer needs, manufacturing standards, and cost targets.
  • Lead and coordinate design activities, including cross-functional design reviews and validation planning.
  • Review and approve technical deliverables and design releases at each project stage.
  • Provide technical leadership to component engineers to ensure proper implementation from requirements to design.
  • Create, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog to drive Sprint activities in alignment with the product roadmap.
  • Collaborate closely with the Scrum Master to set priorities and enable strong team execution (responsible for “WHAT”).
  • Own the content and sign-off of required quality deliverables at each milestone.
  • Manage deviations, initiate fact-based escalations (internal and customer-facing), and drive resolution to closure.
  • Present technical status to management using facts, metrics, and data-driven insights.
  • Lead arbitration and decision-making on technical solutions within your subsystem.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Automotive Embedded SW development
  • Strong understanding of embedded hardware/software systems and RTE
  • Experience in AUTOSAR configuration, integration and Vector toolchains (incl. VECTOR AUTOSAR stack).
  • Solid understanding of software architecture principles
  • Familiarity with ASPICE and automotive software development processes
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety (ISO26262) and Cybersecurity (ISO21434) is a plus
  • Ability to create, maintain and review high-quality technical documentation
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Pragmatic, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Able to manage complexity and make informed technical decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strategic mindset with a focus on long-term system scalability and sustainability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
